Verizon Wear24 Release Date, Specs, Price News: Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatch Available for $300
Aside from the much-talked-about LG Watch Sport and Watch Style, another smartwatch was launched alongside the release of Android Wear 2.0 earlier this week — Wear 24. The new wearable device will be available exclusively on Verizon.
With the Wear24, users will be able to complete tasks or run errands without having to be tethered to their smartphones. The device has 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity so they will still be able to receive calls and messages, send texts or make calls and listen to music, among other tasks. The smartwatch also has support for near-field communication (NFC) so it can be used to make purchases via Android Pay.
The Wear24 features a slim and modern design. It also comes with unique watch faces that can automatically change information that is displayed on the screen based on one's location. Despite a more elegant form factor, the wearable device has IP67 certification so it is water resistant and can withstand being submerged up to 3.3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
In terms of technical specifications, CNET reports that the Wear 24 has a 1.39-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. It also has a 450-mAh battery, which is considerably larger than what is offered by other smartwatches in the market today. The battery also comes with wireless charging.
Apart from these, the Wear24 also runs the latest version of Google's operating system for smartwatches so it will come with the latest features including a new interface, standalone apps, a standalone Google Play store, Google Assistant and more fitness capabilities.
The Wear24 is manufactured by Quanta, in partnership with Verizon.
The Wear24 smartwatch will be available in Verizon retail stores and online starting next month. It can be purchased for $299.99 with a two-year activation. Customers can add the smartwatch to their existing Verizon plan or opt for a Single Device Plan. On the other hand, the Wear 24 can also be purchased for $349 without a contract.
