'Vikings' Season 3 Release Date: History Channel Announces Show's Premiere Date and Other Details

Fans of the historical drama TV series "Vikings" can now mark their calendars as History Channel announced the show's premiere date as well as some of its juicy details like the new characters to be introduced on the third season.

IGN.com revealed that "Vikings" will kick off its season 3 premiere this Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10 p.m.

According to the publication, the brand new 10-episode chapter will open up with Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) as the King of Denmark. The story will then follow the humble yet brave farmer taking on his new responsibilities and facing the challenges as his newfound kingdom is now in need of a bigger territory.

Spoiler reports suggest that the legendary Viking warrior will now put into action his plans on sailing to Paris.

Rumors say that Paris is impossible to capture, but the fearless Ragnar will use his growing resources to amass an enough number of equally brave Norsemen forces to take on the city of Seine and tear down its infamous walls.

In his household, the ever-wandering Norse king will also have to deal with his relationship with brother Rollo (Clive Standen), his ex-wife Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and warrior son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) as their family drama continues.

As the season progresses, fans should also expect to see new players coming into the show. Enstarz.com said that among the characters to appear are:

Kalf (Ben Robson) – he is Lagertha's "young, handsome second in command). Speculations pointed out that he will come to challenge the new Earl of Hedeby.

  • Harbard (Kevin Durand) – a mysterious wanderer who ends up in Kattegat
  • Emperor Charles of France (Lothaire Bluteau) – monarch of France
  • Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski) – Emperor Charles' brave daughter
