Will and Jada Smith Separating After 13 Years of Marriage?
"Men in Black" star Will Smith and his wife of 13 years, Jada Smith, are planning to separate, according to entertainment publication In Touch Weekly.
The magazine claims to have received "exclusive" word from an "insider" about the Hollywood couple's separation.
The Smiths have two children together, pop singer Willow and "Karate Kid" actor Jaden. Will Smith has another son named Trey from a previous marriage.
Fans reacting to the report on Twitter Tuesday were dumbfounded over the possibility that one of Hollywood's hottest couples might be calling it quits.
The phrase "Will and Jada" was number three on Twitters Trend list late Tuesday morning.
The Smiths, long viewed as the quintessential couple by many fans, have never given the impression publicly that there was trouble in their marriage, so news of their possible separation comes as a surprise.
"Will & Jada are separated...which means your relationship won't last, so get out of it sooner than later," wrote S.Carter (@dtcarter17) on Twitter.
One Twitter user, blackink12 (@blackink12) wondered if the couple's split, if proven to be true, would not have implications in the African-American community.
"But seriously," blackink12 wrote, "how long until Will & Jada's separation becomes a story turning it into a referendum on state of black marriage? Tomorrow?"
