Woman on Cell Phone Robs Bank in Florida

A woman on a cell phone robbed a bank in West Palm Beach, Florida last week, and police are on the lookout for the thief with the disarming manner. The African-American woman, estimated to be in her early 20s, managed to rob a bank while seemingly chatting with someone on the phone, according to reports.

The woman on the cell phone robbed a TD bank in Palm Beach County by fooling bank patrons and the teller into thinking she was distracted. At about 5:30 p.m. June 4, she walked into the bank already engrossed in conversation wearing a white tank top, blue sweat pants and a brown wig. To obscure her identity, the robber made sure the wig covered her real hair color and pulled a baseball cap low over her eyes. A pair of pink sunglasses sat atop the cap casually.

When the young African-American woman got up to the teller, though, she passed him a note demanding the money, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office told WPTV. Afterwards she escaped on foot.

The robbery has gained attention in the South Florida community because of her casual demeanor and conversation; authorities are unsure if the woman was actually having a conversation or pulling a well-thought-out ruse.

Now police have released her description to see if she can be located— the crook is in her early 20s with a skinny build and is from 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6 tall. Anyone with any information about her whereabouts is asked to call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
