Worship at the 2004 LWF Council

Some 70 members of the Lutheran World Federation gathered for the eucharistic worship service during the LWF's Annual Council meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2004.

The Council, which consists of the leadership of the 76 international churches of the 62 million member LWF, is responsible for the administrative activities of the Federation throughout the year.

At this year's assembly, which is set to end on Sept. 7, Council members re-elected Bishop Mark S. Hanson of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as its President, and the Rev. Dr Ishmael Noko as its General Secretary.
