WWE Latest News: Royal Rumble 2016 Recap, Triple H Wins 14th Overall Title

The Royal Rumble, one of the World Wrestling Entertainment's first blockbuster events of the year, had concluded with Triple H emerging as the grand winner.

The 46-year-old professional wrestler, who last won the said event in 2002 by eliminating wrestler Kurt Angle, scored his second Royal Rumble victory on Sunday night at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. It was also the first time the WWE World heavyweight championship was on the line on the said night and Triple H's victory also marks his 14th world title in the company.

In a report by Adam Silverstein for CBS Sports, the win also marks Triple H's first title since 2009. Roman Reigns, who previously held the WWE heavyweight title, was the first entrant of the night. In the match's few minutes, he was able to ward off every opposition and kept himself in the ring.

Unfortunately for him, he was attacked by The League of Nations upon head honcho Vince McMahon's orders and was dragged out to ringside. Reigns did make a return towards the end of the night, but Triple H, who was the 30th and last man to enter the ring, soon made his appearance.

Soon, there were four men left standing: including Reigns and Triple H, Dean Ambrose and Sheamus were the last two wrestlers to contend with. Sheamus was eventually eliminated by Reigns, leaving three men in the ring. Soon after, Triple H throws Reigns over the top rope, eliminating him and subsequently ending his title reign.

The final standoff for the night was between Triple H and Ambrose. The two men did battle it out, as neither one of them refused to be defeated that easily. After being thrown over the top rope, Triple H managed to hold on and save himself from being eliminated.

Still hanging on, Ambrose rushed forward, in the attempt to push Triple H forward and have him let go of his grip on the rope. This time around, Triple H used Ambrose's momentum as he was lunging forward, causing him to be flipped over the top rope.

As the last man standing, Triple H was declared the winner of the 2016 Royal Rumble.
