Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 release: New-gen Mi Pad to have Android and Windows 10 variants

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 has been creating a buzz around the Internet with leaked specs and features, and the latest rumor says the new-generation Mi Pad will be released in two variants.

Based on the most recent leaks, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will come in both Android and Windows 10 variants. In addition, the new tablet will sport a bigger screen compared with its predecessor that has a 9.7-inch display, according to the Venture Capital Post.

The announcement of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 has been long due, as the first Mi Pad wash launched in March last year. But it is not surprising that Xiaomi is taking its time in announcing the official details about its next-gen Mi Pad, since the firm also took a long time before it announced the Redmi Note 2, Android Headlines reports.

The upcoming Mi Pad 2 will have a 10-inch screen, although this has not yet been confirmed. The screen size of the Mi Pad 2 will position it in the market as a rival for Microsoft's Surface Pro 4. The latter, however, has more advantage since it was released at an earlier date. But if by some miracle, the Xiaomi tablet would be able to attract more buyers by the time it is released, then it can edge the Surface Pro 4, the report explains.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is also rumored to have 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and will come in two variants, which will run both Windows 10 and either Android 5.1 Lollipop or the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It will also run on the latest Intel 14-nanometer processor. Although it will have two variants, the Mi Pad 2 will not sport dual boot.

Other specs of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 include a 13-megapixel rear camera and a screen with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. It might also have a classy all-metal design, the report adds.

Xiaomi is already testing the Windows 10 variant of the Mi Pad 2. If rumors are to be believed, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 would be unveiled alongside the Mi4c smartphone on Sept. 24.
