Sony Xperia Z5 Release Date: Z5 and Z5 Contact New Live Leaked Photo Shows Fingerprint Scanner

Sony is slated to appear at Europe's biggest annual consumer tech expo, the IFA 2015, and the public is already getting some bits and pieces of what the company will likely to showcase during the event.

A report from GSM Arena cited a new alleged live photo leaked by a fairly trusted leakster, @vizileaks, which shows what appears to be a couple of Xperia prototype handsets with one being the larger version of the other. Sitting between the two smartphones is an iPhone 5s unit.

Although there's no way that this picture officially confirms an upcoming feature of Sony's next-gen flagship, it is quite obvious however that the phones will have a fingerprint scanner as it was displayed on the screens.

The side power button on the Xperia Z5 apparently acts as the fingerprint sensor. The location of the button ultimately pushes the volume control down to the lower side part of the purported device.

Sony's move to have the user's security feature placed on the device's side sets them apart from the other tech manufacturers. A lot of designs, including that of Apple's iPhone, see the access area embedded in the Home button below the screen. Others even place their sensors at the back, under the camera.

When asked further by the its followers, the leaker went on to say that both models won't be hitting the stores with a USB Type-C port. However, the phones remain to have glass back covers.

Sony's IFA press conference will take place on Sept. 2 which means any unconfirmed information stated early on should be taken with a grain of salt.
