Despite the oft-joked "peanut butter and pickles," SheKnows.com offers less exotic answers like ice, chocolate and potato chips (though pickles, sans JIF, is #4 on their Top 10).
Filmmaker Adam Forrester heard about one crazy craving and traveled to the American South to film it for himself. What did these expecting moms yearn for that compelled Forrester to make a movie?
Dirt.
In fairness, it's a special kind of dirt – kaolin, a white clay "formed by the weathering of aluminous minerals; used in ceramics and as an absorbent and as a filler." But it's still dug out of the ground and eaten. No cooking, no sprinkling over salad, no sriracha – just white dirt sold in baggies and munched like marshmallows.
