YouVersion launches Bible Loop app to help teens study Scripture

YouVersion has launched a new app for teenagers called Bible Loop, which the company says has been installed more than 1 million times worldwide.
Bobby Gruenewald, YouVersion founder and CEO, told The Christian Post in emailed comments on Wednesday that Bible Loop was first tested in India.
“Bible Loop began last year as a test in India, where we were seeing strong engagement with the Bible App for Kids and wanted to see how we could build on it,” he explained.
“We began rolling it out in other parts of the world and the engagement we saw from teens was encouraging. We recently launched it in the United States, and it’s now available worldwide in four languages.”
Gruenewald said the app has been installed more than 1 million times worldwide, and he hopes it will shape teens’ daily habits.
“We care about helping people of every age build healthy daily habits in Scripture,” Gruenewald said. “Bible Loop has more than one million installs worldwide so far, which suggests the need we recognized isn’t unique to one region of the world.”
“Our hope is that it helps teens build daily rhythms in Scripture and prayer that make a real difference now and well into the future, and that it can serve youth leaders and parents as they lead teens closer to God through His Word.”
Gruenewald said teens are an important part of YouVersion’s goal of “reaching everyone, everywhere with God’s Word,” noting that teenagers are “at a stage of life when independence is growing and habits are forming, and we wanted to build something specifically for them.”
Gruenewald said Bible Loop has two features that set it apart from the rest of the YouVersion Family of Apps: “a verse memorization game and Daily Check-Ins.”
“The verse memorization game helps make daily Scripture a habit and has an anonymous leaderboard for a little friendly competition,” he told CP.
“With Daily Check-Ins, teens share how they’re feeling that day so they can engage with relevant devotional content. Together, they’re meant to help teens connect with God’s Word in a way that feels personal.”
To launch the app, YouVersion partnered with OneHope, a Florida-based ministry founded in 1987 that specializes in evangelizing children and youth across the world.
“We partnered with OneHope because of their experience reaching young people,” Gruenewald said. “They’ve been sharing God’s Word with children and youth alongside local churches for decades, and their research helped shape the app.”
“For example, they found that Gen Alpha, whose oldest members are now teens, spends about four hours a day online. We hope Bible Loop can help make God’s Word an important part of their day, in the places they already spend time.”
