But behind every number is a person — someone whose life was interrupted by grace. Here are five of them.
1. The Witch Doctor Who Knelt Before Her Son — Uganda
Anna Kelea describes her former life plainly: "I was a very bad person. I was a witch doctor."
Then something unexpected happened. Her children came to faith in Christ. Her son, Ronald, began to preach to her. "Mom, what you're doing is bad and it's wrong," he told her. Anna wrestled with it — the income, the identity, the cost of walking away.
Then came a moment she didn't expect. At 4 in the morning, she says, God himself spoke to her: "What are you waiting for?" By sunrise, Anna was on her knees before her son, asking him to pray over her. "When I heard that voice, in the morning I woke up and fell down on my knees before my son. He prayed for me and I'm born again."
Today, Pastor Ronald, Anna's son, leads a congregation under a tree in the very place where people once gathered to drink from morning until evening. "It has changed to be a church," he says simply.
This story, reported directly by Harvesters' field team in Uganda, is the kind of transformation their pastoral training program makes possible: local leaders, rooted in their own communities, reaching people through evangelism.
2. The 90-Year-Old Woman Who Couldn't Get to the Door — Mongolia
A Harvesters-equipped evangelism team in Mongolia was going door-to-door in a remote village when they knocked and heard nothing. A young team member felt what she described as an unusual prompting from the Holy Spirit and stepped inside anyway.
They found a 90-year-old woman, unable to walk, who hadn't been able to answer the door. They helped her, and then they shared the Gospel with her. She accepted Christ. Two nights later, she showed up on crutches to a gathering of new believers. By the end of the meeting, she was standing and worshipping God without them.
"We've waited 27 years for you to come!"
The team also discovered a couple in that same village who had first heard about Jesus by watching The Jesus Film more than 25 years earlier. They had been waiting ever since for someone to come and tell them more. "We've waited 27 years for you to come!" they exclaimed as they accepted Christ.

3. The Woman Who Finally Held a Bible — Kenya
Across much of rural East Africa, owning a Bible in your own language is far from guaranteed. Harvesters recently partnered with Biblica to hand-deliver 5,000 Bibles to church plants in Uganda and Kenya. For Mary Chituwe, who gave her life to Christ in 1992, the moment a Bible was placed in her hands carried over 30 years of longing with it.
"I have never received a Bible in my hands. This is a miracle! Thank you so much… Jesus has done wonders."
For Pastor Dennis in Uganda, the Bibles arrived just in time. He had been serving with only a fragment of Scripture — the books of Leviticus through Luke — held together in a torn and weathered copy. A pastor training others to know God's Word, working from an incomplete one.
Pastor Peter Mukisa, a former Muslim who now oversees 102 churches in Uganda, received his Bible and called it a tool: "The Bible in the hand of a true Christian … is going to help us advance the kingdom of the Lord in dark areas. It is pushing back witchcraft, sorcery, and other cultic beliefs."
4. The Catholic Man Who Found the Living Gospel — Uganda
Gerald Wangarira grew up in a Catholic household, but by his own description, his life was also marked by witchcraft. It wasn't until a Harvesters-trained pastor shared the Gospel with him that something changed.
"I got delivered from all bad influences or characters I used to have," he said.
Gerald is now a Student Pastor himself, discipling a congregation of 28 members who gather under a mango tree. He is being trained through Harvesters' pastoral program, and he says the experience has lit a fire in him.
"Ever since I joined Harvesters Bible School, my soul fumes with passion of sharing the good news with others."
His story is a picture of the multiplication that sits at the heart of what Harvesters does. One trained pastor reaches one community and plants a church. That community produces another leader. That leader reaches another community. The math of grace compounds.
5. The Pastor Who Started Immediately — Mongolia
When Mongolian pastor Ulzii completed Phase A of Harvesters' church-planting training, he didn't file it away for later. He started the same week.
"In the past, we tried many different methods and materials," he said. "But we are so grateful to God that He is now providing systematic materials at the right time through Harvesters."
He and his leadership team moved quickly. They committed to financially supporting two church plants in Dornod province and began preparations to launch a new church near Ulaanbaatar. What Harvesters gave him wasn't just information; it was a plan, a framework, and the confidence to move.
Another pastor from the same training cohort echoed Ulzii's sense of timing. His church had already gone on an outreach to the countryside that summer, sharing the Gospel, seeing people respond, and making preparations to plant a church among them. The training, he said, arrived at exactly the right moment. "God confirmed to me through this experience that it was truly His plan."
