$99 HP TouchPad: Motorola Droid Bionic Fire Sale?

With so much competition in technology with devices such as smartphones and tablets, there is so much room for failure and flopping, and in the case of HP’s TouchPad, sales have been bittersweet.

Retailers reported that the HP TouchPad was experiencing poor sales and following that news, the HP deciding to discontinue the item resulting in a fire sale instantly making the tablet one of the highest demanded products on the market.

Well now Radioshack is stating that Motorola’s Droid Bionic smartphone is virtually “unsellable.”

“At this time the Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic is unsellable in stores and has been removed from Direct2U,” wrote the retailer in a recent memo.

The situation does not look to good for a smartphone deemed Motorola’s poster child.

And the Droid Bionic is an impressive device which includes a dual-core processor and is 4G LTE ready.

Tech site Droid-Life also commented on the situation over at Radioshack.

“We have been assured that this is a RadioShack-only situation. The device as we have been told, has no issues and will continue to be sold nationwide just as it always has been… Our source says that it is likely a software or security issue that needs to be addressed before they can begin to sell it again.”

Despite Droid-Life’s opinion, there is still a chance Radioshack can slash the prices on the Motorola smartphone in order to unload some of its stagnant stock.

Motorola’s Droid Bionic would be a great phone for consumers to get their hands on in a fire sale.

It has received rave reviews, and some tech blogs are even calling it a better buy than the iPhone 4S.

It will also be compatible with Android’s new Ice Cream Sandwich OS which is a major plus for the smartphone.
