$99 HP TouchPad Sale: CyanogenMod 7 Now Available for Touchpad Users
For HP Touchpad users looking for a version of Android with that little something extra, the CyanogenMod 7.1 platform for Android devices is now available on the Touchpad.
According to LifeHacker, CyanogenMod has been the preferred choice of Android users due to its "extra features and tweaks" for Android phones, such as the "wake on volume" key option, an option to hide hold button during call. In addition, it is expected that many Android users will enthusiastically welcome the newly available platform for the HP Touchpad.
However, it appears as if there are some glitches, including a poor battery life and a few incompatible apps. Nonetheless, many important features, such as Bluetooth, Wifi, video chat, and more work just fine.

Not everybody is pleased with what they are getting from the CyanogenMod 7 platform for HP Touchpads.
Phandroid.com, a website for Android phone fans, lamented that "The CM7 build will have little use to any but the most hardcore modders out there…Sure, the release has working WiFi, camera, Bluetooth, Netflix, and supports the system’s dual-core CPU, but the list of non-functional assets is so lengthy the folks at Cyanogen didn’t even bother to list them."
Despite the missing features, Androidandme.com says that CyanogenMod & for Touchpad has Netflix capability, "something not all Android manufacturers can say."
Although there are a lot of issues to work out before it can be considered comlete, the CyanogenMod 7 for Touchpad signals that "the status of the alpha and public availability is a great sign of just how fast things are moving along," Androidandme.com said.
Hewlett Packard is running off another 200,000 of their $99 HP TouchPads due to be released for sale in late October. HP is hoping to satisfy an unfulfilled demand for the TouchPad which sold out in its first run this summer - and to try and compete with the Apple iPad.
