Amazon Kindle News: On the Brief Discounts, the Tenth Year Anniversary, and the App

Considering the current propensity of the market toward smart gadgets, companies have been working hard to bring something new to the table, even amid the growing capabilities of the smartphone market. One such gadget is Amazon's Kindle, and it has been a well-loved device since it was first released. Recent reports have revealed that to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Kindle's release, Amazon recently gave the device a hefty $30 discount.

According to The Verge, its tenth year anniversary will not be until Nov. 19, but the discounts were available for the fans from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25, especially for those who have been saving up for a Kindle device for a while. The new prices were as follows: Kindle for $49.99, which was formerly $79.99, Kindle Paperwhite for $89.99, which was formerly $119.99, and Kindle Voyage for $169.99, which was formerly $199.99. Excluded from the discounted prices is the recently updated Kindle Oasis, which is still being offered at the hefty price tag of $249.99.

Given that the discounted prices incite a hype for the actual Kindle devices, Amazon's Kindle app was overshadowed. Thus, for those who missed the relatively quick sale, the Kindle app should be a worthy substitute as it received a recent update. The user interface now looks refreshing, with many of the improvements and enhancements focusing on making things more accessible for the users.

Aside form the design, the Kindle app also received a new light theme, which encases texts in a parchment-like aesthetic. For those using the app on iOS, they will have a deeper access in the Goodreads through the Community tab. Android users might be disappointed at the lack of the same in-depth support, but Amazon has previously announced that it will eventually make its way to the platform. In the meantime, fans are encouraged to download the app from the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices.
