AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Review: Processor Is a Viable Alternative to Intel

PC gaming is arguably a very expensive hobby to have, and Intel has always been the prime choice for most gamers. In light of recent events, it looks like the brand is going to face a tough competitor and a suitable alternative with the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X.

According to Extreme Tech, the Ryzen is a force to be reckoned with when used as a workstation chip. Despite the fact that Intel still overtakes AMD when it comes to raw performance, the fact that the latter's product costs a lot less than its bigger competitor makes it a good option that is still sure to get the job done.

As far as gaming is concerned, which is primarily the main audience of the AMD Ryzen, it looks like the brand still has some ways to go, although not too far out. Ars Technica has pointed out that Intel could take a beating against modern games that heavily weigh in on the central processing unit (CPU), while the Ryzen is a bit slower.

Despite this, it appears this is already a known issue for AMD, and that the company is working on it. It has been reported that the company is closely working with developers and engine-makers to optimize the capabilities of the Ryzen, and hopefully, it will yield favorable results the latest during the second quarter of the year.

These reviews further confirm what Forbes has reported before. During AMD's New Horizon event where they pitted the Ryzen against Intel's processor via "Battlefield 1," no noticeable differences were noticed, but if anything, AMD appears to be targeting gamers, as they are mostly the audience who keeps an eye out for faster, more efficient processors.

The heated skirmish between AMD and Intel has been a hot topic for quite some time now, and if it benefits anyone, that is arguably the consumers. Ultimately, the selling point of AMD is price with good performance against Intel's more expensive yet superior capability.
