'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers, Recap: 'Monsters Among Us' Highlights
True to its promise, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" kicked off with a huge amount of scares for its season premiere which aired Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Unlike the slow development of the "AHS: Coven," "AHS: Freak Show" opened up with a "whiplash, chaotic feel, almost as if you're wandering the carnival midway," the Huffington Post reported.
Among the many "attractions" of the show was the introduction of the Tattler Twins, Bette and Dot, played by Sarah Paulson. Two distinct personalities residing in one body, Bette is easily drawn to the promise of limelight while Dot is more of a "protective and downright dour" individual. The biggest reveal in the opener is that they killed their own mother.
Coulrophobic viewers perhaps had nightmares after watching the premiere as it was introduced the murdering clown named Twisty (John Carroll Lynch). He wanders around the quiet town of Jupiter, Florida abducting and killing people and putting them in cages.
Jessica Lange's Elsa Mars was also one of the highlights in the first episode. An opium addict and drunkard, Elsa is under the illusion of grandeur. The "German expatriate" and "matron of the dying era" manages one of the last troupe of freaks in Jupiter. She is the one who rescued the Siamese twins.
Episode 2 is entitled "Massacres and Matinees" and is slated to air Oct. 15.
"A citywide curfew threatens to shut down the Freak Show. A strongman from Ethel's troubled past arrives at camp. Gloria arranges a terrifying play date for Dandy. The Tattler Twins reveal a talent that could knock Elsa from the spotlight," the synopsis reads.
