Amir Khan vs Manny Pacquiao Fight Rumors: 'King Khan' says talks with 'Pacman' camp going well
Former two-time world champion Amir Khan is pleased with the negotiations between his camp and Team Pacqcuiao.
"King Khan" has been pushing for a fight against his former sparring partner since last year, even before Manny Pacquiao was finally slated to face five-year on-paper rival Floyd Mayweather.
With Mayweather now retired and Pacquiao also on the verge of calling it quits, Khan remains optimistic that he will finally get what he has been asking for.
"Talks are going really well," Khan said in a report by Sky Sports. "They [Pacquiao's team] are speaking to my team, I have just left it to my team I fight anybody who is brought in front of me. If it's Manny Pacquiao, it's Manny Pacquiao. If not, then somebody else."
"But we are still waiting for a response on what's going to happen," he continued. "That's why I took a little break and came to India - just to get away from all that because negotiating for a fight is not easy."
Pacquiao has already announced his final fight date, which is set for April 9th of the coming year. And while he has no final opponent yet, some notable names have been put on the shortlist: Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, and current WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford.
"Pacman's" retirement plans are mainly anchored on his aspirations to become a full-time public servant in his home country of the Philippines. He is currently a congressman of Mindanao's Sarangani Province, but has been criticized due to his habitual absences from Congress sessions.
Now eyeing for a Senatorial seat at the 2016 Elections, the first and only eight-division world champion promises to fully dedicate himself to politics.
"If I become a public servant, I will fully devote myself to being a public servant," Pacquiao said in a report by Philippine media outlet ABS-CBN.
