Android 4.4 KitKat Update for T-Mobile Moto X Leaks

The Android 4.4 KitKat update for T-Mobile's Moto X leaked onto the internet earlier this week.

This is no surprise as Motorola is a subsidiary of Google's and will take priority over other companies' handsets to receive the software. There is no official roll out date for KitKat at this time.

This leaked build appears to be fully functional, according to a report from Android Authority. The firmware could be found in XDA developers forums, however; users should have caution while installing it as unauthorized versions can void warrantees on handsets. They should back up their devices before doing so.

Android 4.4 KitKat ROMs are now available for the HTC One, Xperia Z and the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint.

Developer Stephen Bird launched a fully working AOSP KitKat ROM that will work on the AT&T, T-Mobile and international versions of the HTC One. Bird claims his ROM uses binaries from the One's Android 4.3 update but performs very stable for an early build. The only feature that doesn't work is the IR blaster.

The Sony Xperia Z also has a new KitKat ROM available that was created by XDA Senior Member pabx. This one is a pure AOSP build with neither recovery nor root. Aside from a few minor bugs, the ROM is quite stable, according to the developer.

There is also a ROM available for the Sprint Galaxy Nexus that was released by XDA Senior Member nonlinuxparty. This build is also AOSP and features a few modifications in order to get it working.

The camera doesn't seem to work when this ROM is installed, according to Android Authority. There are also some small graphical glitches and some GPS issues. The build is not running that smoothly at this time and shouldn't be installed by those who use their Galaxy Nexus on a daily basis.
