Apple iPhone 6S Latest: How to Apply for iPhone 6S Battery Replacements

Last weekend, Apple verified that some iPhone 6S smart phones in China are experiencing battery issues. Because of this, the Cupertino-based company came up with a program for battery replacement exclusively for affected Apple iPhone 6S users.

This battery replacement program will be available for all affected iPhone 6S users worldwide. Apple reminds users, however, that mobile carriers aren't involved in the replacement process.

Reports from a consumer-protection group based in China reveal that some iPhone 6S units suddenly shut down even if their battery lives are still at 50 percent. In an Apple page, Apple said that it "has determined a very small number of iPhone 6S devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015."

Apple also emphasized that this situation is different from that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It can be recalled that the Galaxy Note 7s have been catching fire, so the company had to stop its production and selling entirely.

Apple stressed that the iPhone 6S battery problems aren't safety issues. According to Tripp Mickle and Eva Dou of the Wall Street Journal, Apple didn't say when or how they figured out that the battery was the problem.

How to Apply for Battery Replacement

Apple iPhone 6S users with battery problems should first contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, Apple Technical Support Online, or Apple Retail Store. They should then ask either of these contacts regarding the eligibility of their devices for battery replacement, which is for free.

If qualified, users are now ready for battery replacement. However, Apple recommends that before doing so, they must back up their files at the iCloud or iTunes. Next, they should turn the Find My iPhone feature on, then erase all phone data.

While the battery replacement is free, any damages in the iPhone 6S that hinder the battery replacement will cost extra charge. Battery replacement is available anywhere in the world.

According to Ars Technica UK, last week Apple also offered screen replacements for Apple iPhone 6S devices suffering from the "touch disease." In this case, the display flickers, or the touch screen doesn't respond.

The main cause of this touch disease is found to be multiple drops on hard surfaces. For a relatively small price of £150 in the U.K., apple offers replacement of these damaged screens.
