Apple News 2015: Cupertino Manufacturer's First-Generation iPad Mini Pulled From Shelves

In 2012, Apple unveiled its very first portable iPad and made it available to the world market. It immediately became a sensation. However, the iPad Air in 2013 was just so slick and stylish that it took over the Apple tablet sales once more.

And now, after almost three years in the market, the original iPad mini has just been pulled out from Apple's stores.

According to a report by Phone Arena, the Cupertino-based manufacturer has just taken out the iOS-powered tablet from its online stores in various markets. While it is definitely sad to see a device go, it could also mean that Apple will soon unveil its next-generation iPad mini, which should be dubbed iPad mini 4 if the company will stick with its naming conventions.

Launched three years ago, the original iPad mini packs a 7.9-inch display with a 768 x 1024 resolution, amounting to a pixel density of 162ppi. Comparably, the subsequent generations of the iPad mini lineup have almost doubled that to 324ppi.

In addition, the old-school Apple slate packs only 512MB of RAM, an A5 chipset, dual-core CPU clocked at 1Ghz, and 64GB of built-in memory. The device also has a 5MP primary camera, and a 1.2MP front shooter for selfie enthusiasts back in 2012.

Tablet fans who are looking to buy an Apple iPad mini can focus on the iPad mini 2, whose pricing begins as low as $299 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only edition.
