Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Massive Bronze Statues in His Image are 'Fantastic'

Arnold Schwarzenegger has commissioned at least three bronze statues which capture him during his body-building days.

Tim Parks, the Oregon-based owner of the bronze company who is making the statues, reportedly asked Schwarzenegger to commission the eight-foot statues, according to New York Daily News.

The one-and-and-quarter times life-size statues come from an idea inspired by a 22-inch sculpture made in 1980 by artist Ralph Crawford.

Schwarzenegger was named Mr. Olympia for five consecutive years beginning in 1970, as well as another in 1980. The bronze figures display the physique of the award-winning bodybuilder during that time.

When viewing the model statues of himself, Schwarzenegger said, “Fantastic. This is just fantastic.”

The 64-year-old former Governor of California only asked Parks to change one thing: the color of the patina to a darker shade.

One statue has already been completed, while two more are scheduled to be finished soon, Parks said.

Parks also said that Schwarzenegger will be keeping one of the statues for himself, while another will been sent to his hometown of Thal, Austria for display in the “Schwarzenegger Museum,” and a third statue will be kept by Crawford.

Also, a fourth statue may be shipped to Columbus, Ohio, for the Arnold Fitness Week annual event.

Up to seven 850-pound statues may be made, priced at roughly $100,000.

Parks suggested to Schwarzenegger that the final count of statues “ought to be your number” in reference to the number of Mr. Olympia titles, to which Schwarzenegger replied, “Perfect.”

Reporters speaking to the bronze specialist inquired about what he knew of Schwarzenegger fathering an illegitimate child.

“None of that stuff means anything to me,” Parks replied. “That’s his personal life. I don’t think it’s anybody’s business.”

Schwarzenegger has been the center of controversy after announcing his affair with his housekeeper in 1997 which resulted in a child. His very public divorce from Maria Shriver has been extensively covered by the media, but the former body-builder remains unfazed, and is said to be restarting his acting career in upcoming months.
