'Bates Motel' Season 4 Spoilers: Norman Does Something "Special" For Norma

A&E's hit psychological thriller and prequel to the Alfred Hitchcock classic, "Psycho," "Bates Motel," is now moving closer towards its Season 4 conclusion and things are already getting more intense. One question that viewers will get answered in this week's showing: Is Norma really dead?

Spoiler alert for those who missed the penultimate episode, the suspenseful hour ended with Norman (Freddie Highmore) shutting all the vents off except the one in Norma's (Vera Farmiga) room as he joined her mother in bed. Luckily, Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) arrived to rescue his wife. He found Norma lying unconscious and beside her is Norman. The situation really looked dire for the two but Romero was able to revive Norman but not Norma.

According to reports, Norma's fate will be found out in the show's season-ender titled "Norman."

In an interview, executive producer Carlton Cuse told TVLine that the show "designed [the finale] to be the emotional response to [Episode 9]."

If viewers will take the showrunner's words, Episode 10 is indeed hard to miss as hinted in the gripping promo video.

The short clip opens up with Norman lying in his bed, as if contemplating. He can be heard telling his mother that she's everything to him. The next scene shows Norman checking the fire and Romero throwing a chair to break the window as he gets Norma out from the smoke-filled room. Romero can be seen trying desperately to revive Norma as the young man looks over.

Tensed scenes followed showing Romero grabbing Norman by the throat and slamming him at a hospital wall. It's pretty clear that Romero is upset for how things turn out since he may have expected to see Norma back to life rather than Norman.

The video ends with Romero cocking his gun as if he's out to shoot someone. Norman, on the other hand, is laying on a gurney, looking senseless towards the roof.

Will the show follow the path of "Psycho" wherein there's no Norma? Or will it introduce a twist that may appease the fans?

Find out how these events unfold when "Bates Motel" Season 4 finale airs this Monday, May 16 at 9 p.m. on A&E.
