Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month to Begin in February

Battlefield 4 developer EA DICE will run a special Player Appreciation Month starting on Feb. 1.

The company is running this program to make up for the game's numerous problems that players have had to deal with since its initial launch.

"If you are currently playing Battlefield 4, we hope you enjoy this month long community appreciation," wrote DICE Vice President Karl Magnus Troedsson. "If you haven't played in a little while, it's a great time to get back in the game. Whoever you are, we appreciate the time you spend with Battlefield 4, we thank you for your support and we hope to keep hearing from you."

DICE ran a similar promotion for a week in late Nov. Next month's special will offer daily giveaways for logging in to Battlefield 4 with bronze Battlepacks on weekdays and silver ones on weekends which contain items such as XP boosts and character skins. Gold Battlepacks will also be unlockable in community missions where players will have to work together to reach a particular goal.

Unlocks for all the grenades and handguns in the game will also be available during Feb. DICE is also planning a double XP weekend for all players with an additional one for premium subscribers. Premium members will receive additional weapon shortcuts that unlock all DMRs and shotguns.

A software update is now available for all versions of Battlefield 4 that addresses various issues with the game.

Stability and balancing were improved with the new patches for both consoles. Other changes and fixes also came including an increase in damage to the stealth jet's 20mm cannons and a fix to make sure a killer's health is updated properly on the kill card.

The jets will also handle more like each other and friendly markers will be shown when they should be. This should cut down unnecessary friendly fire.
