Ben Affleck Gets Go-Ahead for Solo 'Batman' Movie
From what used to be just an idea for the next caped crusader movie, Ben Affleck has gotten the official go-signal for the next "Batman". According to a report in The Guardian, Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that Ben Affleck will not only star in the next "Batman" film, but he will also helm it.
No less than Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara shared the news at the ComicCon, citing that "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is "the perfect foundation" for what the studio has in store for their DC cinematic universe, which they are planning to expand some more in the next few years. He is also saying this despite the fact that "Batman v Superman" did not do well in the box-office and has received lackluster reviews from critics.
Affleck has long been confirmed to return as "Batman" in the next set of "Justice League" movies. This new development about reviving the "Batman" franchise came out again after reports of the actor-director sharing some of his ideas for the revival. Affleck's recent directorial project, "Argo," received an Oscar for Best Film, recognizing his abilities as a director.

Another report in Tech Times speculated that this next solo film may very well provide the explanation for the caped crusader's actions in the "Dawn of Justice" storyline. It also reported that Affleck is working with Geoff Johns of DC Comics on a secret project. He said this of Geoff Johns: "Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy... I consider him to be the most valued resource on all things comic book ... He and I are working together on something and I really am excited about it and I love him. He's the best."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck may be bowing in theaters on October 5, 2018 or November 1, 2019. Both dates have been declared by Warner Bros. as release dates for yet unspecified comic book movies.
