Bobby Brown Cancels All Performances Following Bobbi Kristina's 'Nervous Breakdown'

Bobby Brown is helping his daughter Bobbi Kristina to cope with mother Whitney Houston's death by canceling all of his future professional engagements for the foreseeable future

Bobby Brown's New Edition performances will be canceled in the wake of Bobbi Kristina's "nervous breakdown," which was previously reported by Us Weekly. The 18-year-old girl has been rushed to the hospital twice since her mother Whitney's untimely death, and some reports state that she may be suicidal.

"Bobby has decided to stay with Bobbi Kristina indefinitely and will not be returning to his scheduled New Edition shows for the time being," an unnamed insider told HollywoodLife.com.

Because the young girl was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital following her treatments for anxiety and stress Saturday and Sunday nights, Bobby Brown canceled a Sunday performance in Nashville and flew across the country to be with her.

"Everything [was] stressful," Billy Watson, a relative, told Us Weekly. "[Bobbi Kristina's] mama died, so she broke down. Nobody expected her to pass as quickly as she did. She had a nervous breakdown."

Bobby Brown refused to comment on the specifics of the situation, though, trying to keep a modicum of privacy amidst the public mourning and speculation surrounding Whitney's death.

"My daughter did visit with doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles," Brown told reporters Sunday. "She has been released and is presently with my family, including her siblings."

"Obviously the death of her mother is affecting her, however, we will get through this tragedy as a family. Again, I ask for privacy during this time," he added.

Bobby Brown's seemingly deep-seated need for privacy could be a result of the rumors swirling around his earlier actions. Brown apparently learned of his ex-wife's end during a concert. Instead of immediately leaving, the New Edition star stayed to perform 10 songs before finally departing.

"I would like to say I love you Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is come on this stage," said the singer to the audience before departing.

Brown garnered some criticism for his actions, but the real speculation is about the cause of Whitney Houston's death. She was found in a bathtub Saturday night, and pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m., according to reports.

Her cause of death is still unknown.
