Bruce Willis Donates Idaho Ski Resort to Charity
Bruce Willis donated his Fairfield, Idaho ski resort to a non-profit group, Soldier Mountain Ski Area Inc., on Thursday.
The keys to the Soldier Mountain Ski Facility were given to five people behind the organization, but the names of the individuals have not been released.
Willis owned the resort located in the mountains between Sun Valley and Boise for many years, in addition to a home and a bar in Hailey, Idaho. Soldier Mountain has three lifts as well as a lodge and is a 867-vertical foot resort, according to KMVT News.
A meeting in Fairfield's town hall took place on Thursday for a question-and-answer forum on the new ownership of the resort.
Justin Nyquist, a spokesperson for the non-profit group, said that Willis offered the resort as a "total donation" and that all of the new owners of the ski resort live in the Fairfield area.
"Soldier Mountain is the pride of Fairfield," said Nyquist, according to the Idaho Mountain Express. "The new owners want to keep it that way. This community meeting is a chance to lay out the ownership change to the town and offer residents an opportunity to ask questions."
A news release on Tuesday indicated that members of the Soldier Mountain non-profit formed the group after having learned to ski on the special mountain.
"After learning to ski at Soldier Mountain in their youth, [the members of the non-profit] have spend countless hours skiing the mountain and appreciate that truly unique, family-friendly skiing experience it offers," said the release, according to the Mountain Express. "We are excited to start this venture and extremely grateful for the generosity of Mr. Willis and his team."
The donation in Idaho was not the first good deed Willis was reportedly participated in. The "Looper" star once purchased 12,000 boxes of girl scouts cookies from his daughter and sent them to troops in Afghanistan, according to People magazine.
Willis was married to actress Demi Moore for 13 years, with whom he shares three daughters. He is now married to model Emma Hemming, and welcomed his fourth daughter in 2012.
