Buffalo Bills News 2015: Wide Receiver Marcus Easley Leaves Game Early Due to Concussion

The NFL lately has been criticized by the way they're handling situations in the league with regar to concussions. Sunday's game pitting St. Louis and Baltimore saw quarterback Case Keenum getting knocked down and woozy, but was allowed to remain in the game. He eventually fumbled two downs later.

On Monday, another case of head injury occurred when Buffalo Bills receiver Marcus Easley left the game after a blow to the head. Team officials later said in a statement that Easley will be subjected to a concussion test and won't be returning to the game. The Bills eventually lost that game, 20-13.

Easley is the designated gunner of the Bills' punt coverage team. He sustained the injury after making a tackle on a punt early in the game. He is one of the team's primary contributors, too, having played more than 60 percent of Buffalo's special teams snaps in this season alone. He also has produced five tackles so far. Team officials, led by special teams coordinator Danny Crossman, believes that Easley is playing great that he deserves to be considered for the Pro Bowl.

The fourth round draft pick in 2010 may be seeing limited offense minutes, but he's still a major loss to the team in case he'll miss some significant time.

More Injuries

Aside from Easley, there were also a couple of injuries around the league, including offensive lineman John Miller who got an ankle injury. It appeared to be serious when he was seen carted off the field. New England Patriots receiver Aaron Dobson was also seen struggling to get out of the field after doing a catch in the second quarter of their game. Team officials later said that it also is an ankle injury.

In a game where full contact and tons of collisions are seen in every game, the NFL should be able to put in a more definite implementation of its concussion protocol.
