Carnie Wilson Discusses Weight Struggle

Carnie Wilson has always struggled with her weight, but in a new interview, she says she is “looking forward” to getting a routine established. She is also keeping a close eye on daughter Lola’s eating habits to ensure she doesn’t follow in her mother’s footsteps.

Wilson is the daughter of former Beach Boy Brian Wilson and one-third of singing group Wilson Phillips. She recently appeared on the new season of “Celebrity Wife Swap” opposite “Growing Pains” actress Tracey Gold. In an interview with Fox News, Wilson opened up about her life-long struggle with weight and health.

“I’ve had so much stress in the last year, so it’s really a struggle. I’m definitely up in weight. I’m looking forward to getting an exercise routine again. It’s like a daily routine,” she said.

At her heaviest, Wilson weighed nearly 300 pounds. She had gastric bypass surgery in 1999 and instantly dropped quite a bit of weight. To celebrate her success, Wilson appeared in “Playboy” but then gained back some of the weight. She next appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” in 2006 and successfully lost 22 pounds.

Wilson has gained weight since her appearance and has been busy touring with Wilson-Philips and raising daughters Lola and Lucy. Lola’s eating habits are a point of concern for Wilson, who said, “Lola knows I struggle with it [her weight]. I see Lola loving sugar like all the other children, but I also see her pay a little more attention.”

She added, “Like when there’s a birthday party, I see her being the first in line to get the cake. I see me in her. I think she’s going to be alright as long as we’re in control of this.”

Wilson Phillips is currently touring the nation.
