Carrie Fisher's 'Star Wars' Script To Be Sold In Auction

Fans can now own a piece of "Star Wars" history with Carrie Fisher's personal copies of several scripts from the movie to be put up for auction. The scripts feature hand-written notes as well as inscriptions from George Lucas. It will be up for sale next month.

Fisher's scripts from "A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back," and "Return of the Jedi" will be open for bidding on Oct. 7 until Oct. 9 in Los Angeles. The sale will be held by Profiles in History during their Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds personal property auction.

The first, and perhaps most notable script up for auction is Fisher's personal, hand-annotated shooting script from "Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back." The script contains Fisher's own notes to help her play with the context around Leia's lines and is estimated to sell for $30,000-$50,000.

Also up for auction is the original script for 1977 "Star Wars" film, "A New Hope," signed by series creator and the film's director, George Lucas. Lucas signed the 156-page script with the words "To Carrie with much love, George" and is estimated to go for $20,000-$30,000.

Another "Empire Strikes Back" script is also up for auction, this time with a title page reading, "Star Wars Episode Five The Empire Strikes Back. By Leigh Brackett and Larry Kasdan. From the Novel By George Lucas." Lucas also inscribed the 157-page script writing "To Carrie, May the force be with you. George." The script is expected to fetch $20,000-$30,000 at auction.

Fisher's bound presentation script for "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" is also signed by George Lucas. Lucas inscribed the words "For Carrie. Easy to say lines, George," on the 107-page script which features 13 vintage promotional stills of Fisher as Princess Leia.

Although Fisher passed away last year, she has finished filming her scenes for the new trilogy. "Star Wars: Episode 8 – The Last Jedi" is set to be released on Dec. 13, 2017. "Star Wars: Episode 9" will soon follow and will be released on May 24, 2019.
