'Castle' Season 8 Cast News, Update: 'The Neighbors' Star Toks Olagundoye Joins Show as Series Regular

The upcoming eighth season of ABC's hit police-procedural TV drama series "Castle" is expected to see a new face on its character list.

A report from TV Line indicated that "The Neighbors" actress Toks Olagundoye is now boarding the Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic-headed show as a series regular.

Olagundoye will take on the role of Hayley who is described as a "quick-witted, free-spirited, former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn't afraid to cross lines to get things done."

The newcomer is set to debut in the two-part Season 8 premiere, the media outlet added.

The Nigerian-born actress takes credits on her appearances for TV shows like "NCIS," "Law & Order" and on "Prime Suspect."

Castle is currently undergoing some cast and crew member "shake-up" in preparation for its forthcoming eighth installment, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Last month, series regular Penny Johnson Jerald who played Captain Victoria Gates of the 12th precinct, announced that she won't be returning to the series.

"To my Castle fans around the world, as of late yesterday I am surprised and saddened to learn that I will no longer be a part of the Castle family," Jerald wrote in her social media. "Thank you all for your support and love. Hugs from PJJ."

And just recently, THR said that Andrew Marlowe and his wife, Terri Miller, will be stepping down as series creator and writer-producer, respectively. Executive producer David Amann will also be handing over the reins to Alexi Hawley (The Following) alongside veteran Terence Paul Winter.

"Castle" Season 8 is slated to premiere Monday, September 21, at 10 p.m. on ABC.
