At 9:30PM today, colorful fireworks will be displayed with a mix of patriotic music being played in the background at the Navy Pier. The extraordinary moments you can possibly experience in Chicago will help you celebrate liberty and freedom in a very spectacular and patriotic way.

If you are willing to get lost in the crowd just to be able to catch a glimpse of the dancing lights in the night sky, then here are the best places you can go to while preparing for a blast. Just don't forget to go early so you can save your own perfect spot.

  • 1. Ohio Street Beach – This beach is the closest one to the Navy Pier and it can give you a great view from here.
  • 2. Oak Street Beach – Oak Street is a lot bigger than Ohio Street Beach, and this can be your second option if you think Ohio Street Beach is too crowded for you. It also, of course, offers a wonderful view of the Navy Pier fireworks.
  • 3. Millennium Park – If you're planning to have a picnic with your friends while watching the fireworks display, Millennium Park is the best for you. It can be too crowded but it can be a great spot to just watch the show and relax.
  • 4. Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain – Packed with its wonderful Chicago architecture, it is also a perfect spot to catch a glimpse of the fireworks show.
  • 5. Belmont Harbor – this a perfect spot for North Siders. Aside from being spacious, it is also close enough to the Pier Navy wherein you will surely get a marvelous view of the sky.

Top-of-the-roof Views
There are places in Chicago where you can be in a different setting while watching the fireworks display.

  • 1. Cindy's – the rooftop level of Chicago Athletic Hotel which gives you a panoramic view of the Millennium Park is the best place for you if you want to just take a sip of a cocktail while enjoying the fireworks show.
  • 2. Freedom Fest – You can celebrate liberty at its finest on the roof of Navy Pier itself. In just $45, you can get a live access on the DJ Dance Floor. It also comes with pricier packages for open bar and Barbeque buffet.

By Boat
You can also spend dollars for an even fancy view of the night sky in yacht via Boatbound or on cruises like Odyssey and Spirit Cruises.

Avoiding the Crowd
If you are not a fan of crowds you can also celebrate on your own while watching it via WGN-TV at 9:30 PM or livestream at abc7chicago.com.

Sure, there will be fun ways to celebrate freedom. And it only happens once in a year, be sure to make it worth it.
