Christie Brinkley Wows at 60, Swimsuit Model's Kids 'Embarrassed' of Exuberant Mom

Christie Brinkley is ringing in her 60th birthday with an incredibly bright attitude this year.

The supermodel bravely graced the cover of People magazine in a swimsuit just ahead of her milestone birthday, which arrives Sunday, Feb. 2. However, Brinkley admitted that not everyone is as appreciative of her ability to age gracefully.

"My kids would be so embarrassed," she said to People. "In private I may wear a bikini, but at the public beach with my kids I would change bathing suits because they do not want to be hanging out with some old broad in a bikini."

Brinkley is the mother of three children; Alexa Ray Joel, 28, Jack Brinkley-Cook, 18, and Sailor Brinkley-Cook, 15. Despite what her children may think, the model said she is thrilled and confident about turning 60.

"I'm actually excited about turning 60," she said. "I feel on top of my game."

The model rose to fame in the 1970's after appearing on many covers of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and today, the Michigan native stays in shape largely because of her children.

"Because I'm an older mom, I have a responsibility to my kids as well as myself," she told People. "I want to be there for them."

Meanwhile, Brinkley is not the only celebrity to mark her milestone 60th birthday with joy this week. Oprah Winfrey is celebrating her birthday on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and the television mogul opened up about entering her 60's.

"I'm alive. Healthy, Strong. I'm turning 60," Winfrey said, according to GossipCop. "And- please don't take offense- I no longer have to be concerned about what anyone thinks of me! I'm turning 60 and I've earned the right to be just as I am. I'm more secure in being myself than I've ever been."
