Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, together with Traveller's Tales and Lego, have released a new promotional trailer for its soon-to-be-released action-adventure video game, "Lego Dimensions."

The trailer stars "Back to the Future" actor, Christopher Lloyd, who appears in the video to take his iconic time-travelling DeLorean for a ride across the Lego multiverse.

The live-action short shows Lloyd, who played eccentric scientist Doc Brown in the "Back to the Future" movies, together with Lego pieces that arrive inside a mysterious package, which Doc assembles to reveal a Lego version of himself and a time-travel portal.

As soon as he places the Lego Doc on the portal, it immediately activates and the video speeds the viewer straight into the portal to show Lego Doc and the DeLorean in the middle of various adventures in various worlds of the multiverse.

"Lego Dimensions" has followed the direction taken by video games like "Disney Infinity," "Skylanders," and the Nintendo Amiibo titles by giving players the option to buy Lego character packs that include a character and a vehicle appearing in the game.

Plugging the character in allows gamers to use that same character in the "Lego Dimensions" game world, in the same manner Doc Brown did in the video.

"Lego Dimensions" will be featuring a number of crossover worlds culled from MGM, Fox, DC Universe and Warner Bros. media properties, including "Back to the Future," "Portal 2," "Ghostbusters," "Doctor Who," "Lego Ninjago," "The Lord of the Rings," "The Wizard of Oz," and "Jurassic World."

"Back to the Future" fans who purchase "Lego Dimensions" can expect Doc Brown and Marty McFly making an appearance when the game debuts on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 27.
