'Community' Season 6 Casting News: Finale Will Have Yvette Nicole Brown Return as Shirley Bennett

The hit comedy series "Community," which now finds its new home in Yahoo's streaming service after its cancellation on NBC, is now close to wrapping up its current sixth season.

A report from TV Line indicated that the fan favouite cast member Yvette Nicole Brown will return for the upcoming season finale of the show.

Playing the character Shirley Bennett, Brown will be joined by "Family Guy" voice-actor, Seth Green as guest stars. The streaming network meanwhile released the official synopsis that reads:

"As their sixth year at Greendale draws to a close, Abed (Danny Pudi) asks everyone to imagine pitching a TV show about what they would do in season seven. Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong also star."

As a refresher, Brown previously told the media outlet back in March about her willingness to reprise her role in the resurrected series.

"It was always a time-spent-on-set issue, not a being-on-set issue. If they were to find a way for me to come back and I wouldn't have to be there for 16-hour days, I would totally do it, because I love the show, I love my cast members and the crew is awesome," the 43-year-old "The Odd Couple" star said.

It remains to be seen if the series headlined by Joel McHale as Jeff Winger, Gillian Jacobs as Britta Perry, and Alison Brie as Annie Edison will be renewed for Season 7.

"Community" Season 6 Finale titled "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television" streams this Tuesday, June 2, on Yahoo Screen.
