Current Election 2012 Results: Presidential Polls for Florida, Ohio, Virginia Updates at 8PM ET

Current presidential election 2012 projections are starting to flood in via early exit poll results, and already all indications are that a number of key swing states will be as close as expected.

As at 8 p.m. ET, according to CNN, Florida was extremely tight with 43 percent of votes in. President Barack Obama had 51 percent of the vote compared to 49 percent for Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

In New Hampshire with just 2 percent of results in Obama had 64 percent of votes compared to 35 percent for Romney. However, obviously there is a long way to go before the situation becomes clearer.

In the key swing state of Ohio Obama again leads 61 percent compared to 38 percent for Romney, but again only 8 percent of votes are in.

In another key battleground state, Virginia, Romney had a healthy lead with 59 percent compared to Obama's 40 percent, with 13 percent of votes counted so far.

In Indiana, which carries 11 Electoral Votes, Romney had 54 percent of votes compared to Obama's 44 percent, with 24 percent of the vote in.

Romney also had Kentucky, with 58 percent compared to 40 percent for the president, with 40 percent of the vote in.

South Carolina looked likely to go to Obama, with 55 percent of the vote compared to 44 percent for Romney, with 3 percent of the votes in.

In Vermont Obama looks likely to take the 3 Electoral Votes with 65 percent of the vote compared to 33 percent to Romney, with 4 percent of votes in.

In West Virginia Romney and Obama had 49 percent of the 1 percent of votes in at the time of writing.

Overall according to CNN at 8 p.m. Obama was projected to take 64 Electoral Votes compared to 40 Electoral Votes for Romney so far. In the popular vote at that stage Obama had 48 percent (3,671,859 votes) compared to 51 percent (3,916,772 votes) for Romney.
