'Daredevil' Season 2 Spoilers: Jon Bernthal to Suit Up As The Punisher, Will He Be Faithful To The Comics Version?

Several months after the first season of "Daredevil" ended, fans are already expecting season two to begin filming. And in a new report, it seems that may just be the case.

According to a report by IB Times, filming for "Daredevil" season 2 has begun. No spoilers are out. However, a new character is expected to join the cast.

In the report, former "The Walking Dead" and "Fury" star Jon Bernthal will be joining Charlie Cox in season 2, playing vigilante superhero The Punisher. In a leaked shooting image, the 38-year-old actor is seen beating up a man who has a gun.

In the picture, the rugged-looking Bernthal is shown in a setting where there are colourful toys and it is interesting to note that he did not have his costume on, but that did not stop him from 'punishing' the man for whatever he did.

To make things more exciting for fans, season 1 showrunner Steven DeKnight stated that this version of the Punisher for "Daredevil" season 2 will be much closer to the Marvel version of the character.

"The thing about the Punisher, and I think there are great things about each of those [film] versions, but none of them was completely the Marvel version," DeKnight said in an interview with /Film. "And none of those movies were under the Marvel Studios banner until they recently got the Punisher back. So this is really the first time that we're seeing the Marvel Studios from the Iron Man days, when they can control their own product, actually do this character."

Just recently, Bernthal tweeted a picture of himself reading a Marvel comics version of the Punisher.

In addition to the Punisher, DeKnight revealed that Elecktra, the sai-wielding superhero would also make her debut in "Daredevil" season 2.
