Dave Matthews Band Fans Picks Up Hitchhiking Band Leader
Dave Matthews surprised fans when he needed a ride to his own concert after his bike broke down over the weekend.
The leader of the Grammy Award-winning band was forced to pull his bike over to the side of the road with tire and no cell phone in Hershey, Pa. on Saturday.
It was then that Emily Kraus and her boyfriend Joe were hurrying toward the Dave Matthews Band concert and spotted the stranded cyclist, according to the local TV station CBS 21.
Fortunately, Kraus had a bike rack on her car, but did not realize that she was helping the multi-million record-selling singer until they stopped.
"We saw him on the other side of the road and we pulled my car [over]," Kraus explained to WHPTV.com. "And he picks up his bike and throws it up."
Then, once Matthews was buckled into the vehicle, Kraus said she realized she was transporting one of her favorite musicians.
"We didn't know how to make conversation with him," she said. "So we were talking about his tour and where he had come from."
Kraus went on to discuss Matthews' daughters and added that the singer was "just a very humble guy."
Once safely at the concert venue, Matthews thanked Kraus and her boyfriend with front row tickets as well as dinner.
The "Funny The Way It Is" singer also mentioned the couple during his performance at HersheyPark Stadium, citing "a nice lady named Emily" who offered him a ride, according to the Daily Mail.
The experience left Kraus feeling as though a dream had come true, according to CBS 21.
"I woke up this morning, and I rolled over and said, 'Okay yeah that really happened yesterday,'" admitted the fan. "It was surreal, we couldn't believe it."
Following the concert, Kraus also took to her Facebook page explaining that she had been a fan of Matthews' since the age of nine.
"All the planets aligned last night- something greater then I'll ever be able to comprehend," the music lover posted. "My cheeks still hurt from smiling, giggling and laughing all night long… this will always be remembered."
