The pedigree of both teams will ensure this is an epic game of the highest quality, and we can expect some of the best players in the NHL to be on display tonight.

These two teams will be familiar enough with one another, but this will be just the first of four meetings between the teams.

In the preseason the teams also met twice, although both teams did not feature their full strength teams, so it would be inaccurate to base tonight's game on either of those encounters.

Detroit coach Mike Babcock has said, "It'll be fun! We look forward to it. Everything about today's game for our team, it's a real great opportunity because it's three-in-four and it's back-to-back. To me it's about how mentally tough you are. It's about ... sticking to your plan, doing it right."

He added, "In every game someone gives in, you can't give in today. You've just got to find a way. I don't care if your legs are sore or any of that stuff or where we played. I want to see who's mentally tough and who's going to do it right. Tonight should be a good test for our team and we look forward to it."

Tonight's game will start at 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on the NHL Network (NESN), or online through free live stream by clicking here.
