Elon Musk Criticized Google Clips AI Technology

Considering the current trend of modern technology, some experts believe that the age of artificial intelligence (AI) is almost here. One proponent of the technology is Google, as they have unveiled a new device that uses AI to do its primary function. The Google Clips was unveiled during the launch of the Google Pixel 2, and it received applause from the audience. However, Elon Musk has publicly criticized the gadget, mainly for its intentions.

According to NDTV, Musk reacted to a report on the Google Clips by saying that it does not even "seem innocent." The chief executive officer of Tesla is known for disagreeing with the AI technology, and he has expressed multiple times that it should be regulated, regardless of the features and accessibilities that it offers. Furthermore, some experts believe that his criticism of the Google Clips might cost the search giant some customers, especially given his influence in the technological world.

The Google Clips uses machine learning to determine whether or not it can capture candid moments. It is able to store seven seconds of clips, and it is able to recognize the faces of the people it knows. Furthermore, the device is not connected to the internet to transfer content. All the activity will happen within the limits of the camera, which means that saving and sharing it can only be decided by the user.

Google's latest release for their smart home lineup caters to families. It is marketed as a way for them to capture moments that may not be otherwise captured. The Google Clips is equipped with an LED light that will inform users when it is on and monitoring its owners' faces.

Musk's criticism was met with approval from some of his fans. However, many pointed out that he might not have the right to criticize the technology considering they remotely boosted the battery life of their cars during Hurricane Irma.
