Evo 2016 Weekend: 'Super Smash Bros,' 'Tekken 7' and 'Street Fighter 5' Players Gear Up for Las Vegas Tournament; Complete Schedule, TV Info and Live Stream

More than 14,000 fighters will compete in the biggest fighting game tournament of the year, the Evo Championship, happening this weekend, July 15-17.

Another roller-coaster version of the fighting tournament is set to open this weekend, featuring the best players competing in nine different games of the tournament. The event will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

This year, the 14,000 registered players are categorized in different games. "Street Fighter 5," Evo 2016's most popular game, will have 5,107 players. The game's record of players this year is actually larger than last year's "Ultra Street Fighter 4."

"Super Smash Bros." will have 2,637 players for Wii U, and 2,350 players for "Smash Bros. Melee." The two mentioned games will be featured as official games for Evo 2016, according to Evo tournament director, Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar.

Tekken is said to be the second biggest fighting franchise next to Street Fighter, however, "Tekken 7" had only 543 registered players this year, holding the second lowest registration for the tournament.

On the other hand, the "Pokkén Tournament" had recorded 1,165 players; the "Guilty Gear" will have 903 players; "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3" had 770, "Mortal Kombat X" had 707 and lastly, "Killer Instinct" had 540 registered players.

Tournament's Complete Schedule

The tournament will start on Friday in Central Hall C5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The first six games Street Fighter V, Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Smash Bros for WiiU, Pokken Tournament, Tekken 7: Fated Retribution, and Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will be played from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.

On Saturday, which marks the second day of the tournament, all the nine games including Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat XL, Killer Instinct will be played on the same time as the first day.

And on the Finals, which will be done on Sunday, the gaming event will be held at Mandalay Bay Events Center. Mortal Kombat XL will be held at 8 a.m., Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 will start at 10:30 a.m., Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator will be at 1:00 p.m., Super Smash Bros. Melee will be at 3:00 p.m. and Street Fighter 5 will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Players are gearing up to set their own record in the Tournament's history. An official party will be held at 10:00 p.m. after the tournament, in Lax Nightclub, Luxor Hotel and Casino. For a detailed schedule per game, visit their website.

TV Info and Live Stream

Due to the demand of Street Fighter 5, the Finals match will be broadcasted live at ESPN2, 10 p.m. ET.
