Dame Hellen Mirren Joins the Cast of 'Fast & Furious 8'
For Hellen Mirren, age is just a number as the veteran actress is the newest addition to the "Fast & Furious 8" gang.
Mirren Gets to Drive a Fast Car
It was confirmed that Helen Mirren will be playing a role in the upcoming "Fast & Furious 8" movie. Mirren spoke to Elle about the news, expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming movie. She said, "I'm about to do 'Fast & Furious 8′. But that's for the fun of it. So maybe that's what I want as well, some fun and relevant, serious, important movies."
While details about her character have yet to be revealed, she explained that her character will be able to drive in the upcoming film.
"I've always rather loved driving. I said, 'I'll be in it, but only if I'm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.' But we'll see. We'll see how it transpires," Mirren revealed.
Actress Got Her Wish
It seems as though Mirren got what she wished for since she previously spoke to Yahoo about her desire to be part of a "Fast & Furious" movie. Mirren revealed last year that she really wanted to be part of a "Fast & Furious" installment as well as her love for acting.
She said, "Film is a wonderful thing and it can be so many different things. I don't want to turn my back on any of the different ways movies can be. I love the movies. I love going to the films. I like very serious films, I love foreign films, and I love big, fun movies - as long as they're well made and they've got good scripts. That's the most important thing."
Another Female Villain Emerges
Meanwhile, another new character is expected to join the film alongside Mirren. It was previously reported that Charlize Theron will be taking part in the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, Vin Diesel teased the chaos that Theron's character will bring.
He said, "Wait until you meet Cipher. Of all her films you have never seen this character [Theron] has created… she has truly brought her A game to this saga and we are all grateful for it."
Fans can expect a different kind of vibe with Theron as the villain. It was said that she will pose as another kind of challenge, compared to the previous villains. "Fast & Furious 8" is expected to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
