The premise of the series centers on a son who gave his father a copy of "Final Fantasy XIV" for the PlayStation 4 , and when the dad started playing, the son also entered the game online to secretly help him out.Their gaming experience is then detailed by the son through a blog, as this is also his way of reconnecting with his father.

The show will feature a mix of live action scenes and several in-game footages. The series was also inspired by a true-to-life Japanese blog where a son also introduced the game to his elderly father.

The Verge claims that the show will be an "examination of everyday life in Japan hinged around a beloved property."

"Final Fantasy XIV: Daddy of Light" will air in MBS and TBS (both Japanese channels) starting April 16, and Japan-based Netflix subscribers can stream the show starting April 20.

The game is originally developed by Square Enix, who are also the creators of famous games such as "Kingdom Hearts" and "Dragon Quest."

"Final Fantasy XIV" was first released in 2010, but because of immediate backlash from players who complained about the unusual user interface and several gameplay problems, a reboot of the game titled "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" was later released in 2013 as part of Square Enix's effort to fix and address common issues of the first version of the game.

Players were not disappointed, as "A Realm Reborn" was received with critical and commercial success, earning a special award during the 2013 PlayStation Awards and an Excellence Award during the 2014 Japan Game Awards.
