Galaxy Note 3 Software Update Brings More Galaxy S5 Features to Handset

A new software update released for the international Galaxy Note 3 version brings some of the features found on the Galaxy S5 to the device.

This update is currently available for the unlocked UK version of the Note 3 with additional markets to follow in the next few days. It brings some exciting features to the device including Download Booster, Kids Mode, and Knox. It weighs in at 185MB.

Download Booster was introduced on the Galaxy S5 and can be used to significantly speed up downloading by using Wi-Fi and LTE together. Kids Mode makes the device more kid friendly and Knox 2 protects the Galaxy Note 3 from hackers. Users can look for the update in the Settings menu under Software Update or wait for a notification.

An inside source in Korean media revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date will be in September 2014.

The news comes as no big surprise since the company normally drops its new flagship phablet around this time of year. Samsung is expected to announce the device at IFA in Berlin which runs from 5th to the 10th of Sept. It will go on sale shortly after that.

The source also claims that the Note 4 is about to go into mass production. The process is scheduled to begin between now and July.

A device believed to be the Galaxy Note 4 was recently run through AnTuTu benchmark tests. The results pointed to the phablet being 15 percent faster than the Note 3. This very same data was used last week to determine the specs that will appear on the Note 4 and it also reveals the difference in processing power with both of the upcoming models and current versions.
