'Game of Thrones' Coloring Book Release Date, News: 'Song of Ice and Fire' Author George R.R. Martin To Oversee the Book Release

American publishing house Bantam Books announced this week that it will publish an adult coloring book for George R.R. Martin's popular novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" and its small screen adaptation, "Game of Thrones."

A report from the LA Times said that the book will feature 45 original black-and-white illustrations from various artists. The art pieces will generally be "inspired by characters, scenes, locations and other iconic images" from Martin's fictional universe.

The said publication is scheduled for release this fall and the author of the hit fantasy series himself will oversee its launching.

Adult coloring books have become the latest craze in the publishing industry. Among the top sellers are those from artist Johanna Basford who released her works like "Secret Garden" and "Enchanted Forest." The said coloring slates are deemed to be "relaxing" and even "therapeutic" in nature. In comparison, Bantam's upcoming material will "presumably be a little less restful" considering the chaotic and often very violent themes portrayed both in Martin's books and HBO's show.

TIME.com meanwhile shared their bit of the story by citing an email being sent to them by the publishing house. According to the statement, the book will feature "art by world renowned fantasy illustrators Yvonne Gilbert, John Howe, Tomislav Tomic, Adam Stower and Levi Pinfold."

The TV show "Game of Thrones" is now in the final moments of its current fifth season. The scripted program's finale episode titled "Mother's Mercy" is scheduled to air this Sunday, June 14.
