The Battle of the Bastards

Perhaps the biggest story right now of the season is the inevitable confrontation between Ramsay Bolton and Jon Snow. The two "bastards" of the north will be battling on who ultimately gains control of the Starks' ancient home of Winterfell.

Currently Winterfell is held by Ramsay who took it over when he killed his father, Rose Bolton, earlier in the season. But since Jon left Castle Black and met with his sister Sansa the pair have been on a mission to reclaim the castle from Ramsay. It has not been an easy task as the Starks have lost favor with many of the other houses of the North.

Sansa has played her hand though, as she has sent a raven to Littlefinger asking for the help of the army of the Valle, which Littlefinger promised Sansa in an earlier episode. The battle has been teased in several trailers and if the Starks do eventually win back Winterfell it could have repercussions that will be felt as far as King's Landing.

According to Entertainment Weekly episode 9 of season 6 is entitled "The Battle of the Bastards"

The Iron Fleet Reaches Slaver's Bay

Theon and Yara Greyjoy are currently on the run with the Iron Fleet on route to Slaver's Bay to come to an agreement with Daenerys Targaryen to ship her armies across the narrow sea. If the two reach Slaver's Bay before their Uncle Euron a possible treaty between the two great houses is possible.

The arrival of the Iron Fleet is very important as Daenerys has already confirmed with the remaining Dothraki horde that they will sail to Westeros and win the Iron Throne. However she not aware that her fleet at Slaver's Bay has been burned by the Masters, so the only way she and her armies can now cross the narrow sea is through the Iron Fleet.

All is not well in King's Landing

The confrontation between the Lannister's, Tyrell's and the Faith is also coming to a boiling point. The High Sp arrow has seeming the upper hand as the plan of the two great houses was undermined when it was revealed that Faith and the Crown have merged.

However, in episode 7 Margery is able to sneak a note to her grandmother, the Queen of Thorns that she clearly is not on the side of the Faith and to get out of King's Landing. This could mean civil war in the streets of the capital.

While there are still several other characters who's stories will also play out in the last few episodes of season 6, one thing is for certain, things in Westeros will not be the same again.
