Gary Speed Dies Aged 42; Welsh Soccer Manager Found Hanged

Gary Speed, manager of the Wales international soccer team has been found hanged at his north Wales home Sunday morning. He died aged 42.

Speed was one of the most coveted players to grace Welsh soccer in recent history. He previously played for Leeds, Everton, Newcastle and Bolton. When he retired he went to coach his national team.

Since Speed took over as Welsh manager the team immediately experienced greater success, and he even admitted in recent weeks that he has been shocked by the improvements and progress made by the team.

A police spokesman has said: "At 7.08am this morning, Sunday 27 November, police were informed of an incident at Aldford Road, Huntington. Officers went to the scene where a 42-year-old man was found dead. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and next of kin have been informed."

The Football Association of Wales said in a statement: "The Football Association of Wales are sad to announce the death of the national team manager Gary Speed.

"We extend our sympathies and condolences to the family. We ask that everyone respects the family's privacy at this very sad time."
