'Ghostbusters' Reboot on Netflix? Dan Aykroyd Shows Interest in Live-Action Series
Is "Ghostbusters" getting another reboot on Netflix? Dan Aykroyd, who starred in the original movie, wants a live-action series.
Aykroyd spoke about doing a "Ghostbuster" show in an interview with Cinema Blend. To be clear, however, nothing is still in production but Aykroyd expressed that there are tons of possibilities for a reboot on the small screen down the line.
"Take a cue from these guys in 'Stranger Things' and maybe have the Ghostbusters in high school or something," Aykroyd said.

After the success of "Ghostbusters" on the big screen in 1984, Aykroyd created the cartoon series "The Real Ghostbusters" with Harold Ramis, who also starred in the first movie. The animated show ran from 1986 to 1991 on ABC.
In 2016, Sony Pictures rebooted "Ghostbusters" with an all-female cast led by Melissa McCarthy. Aykroyd was also involved in the production. The film performed fairly at the box office despite long-time fans having issues with the cast. Aykroyd, however, said he liked the performance of the female cast.
Now, he's open to doing a live-action TV show on a streaming platform like Netflix. It's unclear what this reboot will focus on since it's only an idea for now.
Meanwhile, there's an actual "Ghostbusters" reboot in printed form from the team behind the all-female cast. Five comic book issues of "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call" will be made available in digital format at online stores and the first issue dropped Wednesday. Kelly Thompson wrote the story while Corin Howell drew the images.
"There's a demand and passion for these characters — to see their stories continue even in other mediums," Thompson told The Hollywood Reporter. "There are a few references to other Ghostbusters in our story," she added.
The American Film Institute considers the original supernatural comedy movie as one of the best 100 movies of all time. The franchise also extended to video games and "Ghostbusters" continue to be referenced in pop culture.
