GM Recalls 2014−2015 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra Trucks to Fix Safety Issue at No Charge

As a preventive measure, General Motors has issued a recall alert for 2014−2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pick-up trucks because of a safety issue regarding seatbelts, which its dealers will be repairing at no charge at all. There have been no accidents or untoward incidents related to this present issue, but the company is issuing the recall in order to precisely preempt such from happening.

The defect is in the steel cable attaching the strap to the truck's interior. Every time the seatbelt is in use, whether at the driver entering or exiting the vehicle in question, the cable is easily bent and it will only be a matter of time before the strap detaches fully from the vehicle.

The repair that General Motors is offering consists in the enlargement of the side shield opening and strengthening the tensioner by putting in a new pusher bracket or replacing the seatbelt tensioner assembly.
