Phandroid points out that the three names that popped up could be three smartphones coming in 2018. It is to be noted that "crosshatch" in particular has been surfacing on the AOSP code while "albacore" and "blueline" has yet to be seen.

Prior to launching two Pixel 2 devices in 2017, Google was rumored to be launching three. Though only the tech giant knows the whole story, one can only assume that the third alleged unit was scrapped; thus, it did not turn into an actual product.

Droid-life reports that two of the rumored devices will be premium but the third will also be a high-end device. Their difference remains unclear, but according to the publication, their informant referred to all three units as Pixel devices.

Some suspect that releasing three in 2018 may come as a response to Apple's unveiling of three units at once, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. Others believe the rumors are simply there to throw people off.

Another noticeable word in the AOSP code is "wahoo," which has popped up a few times already. Developers suspect the word to be another codename for a new mystery device. It could possibly be a codename since a "wahoo" is a fish after all.

Google has neither confirmed nor denied the rumors. Hence, reports should be taken with a grain of salt.
