'Gotham' Season 2 News, Cast, Spoilers: What Barbara Kean Really Wants

To say that "Gotham" season 2 is action-packed would be an understatement. So many villains have come to surface and started to cause trouble in Gotham city, one of them being Detective Jim Gordon's ex-girlfriend Barbara Kean. From Barbara's personality in the beginning of the show, viewers know that the 360-degree change in her attitude didn't happen overnight and instead was triggered by a string of events that set her off to the deranged character that she is today.

Her desire to get Jim back by any means necessary wasn't exactly appreciated by Jim himself. Recently, Barbara had even resorted to kidnapping him while again attempting to murder Leslie Thompkins. Erin Richards, who plays Barbara Kean, explains to The Hollywood Reporter that Barbara's goal in all of this is to simply show Jim the great chemistry they had and, as she believes, still have. Richards shares, "She wants to go back and tell Jim, 'Listen, we were a great couple. I knew there was darkness within you, because otherwise we wouldn't have been together in the start anyway.'"

Apparently, in Barbara's attempts to prove that her and Jim's relationship was great, she is also trying to lure Jim's bad side out in the open. "She wants to pull him out of this goody-goody cop that he's pretending to be and bring him into her dark place so they can have fabulous sex and cause trouble in this new dark world together. (Laughs.) She wants to play with that, she wants to bring it out of him in the most crazy, violent way that she can, so that she can explode him open. She's so frustrated by who he's pretending to be," shares Richards.

Richards also talked about how her character is enjoying the current and completely opposite life she's leading. She says that after all the constraints her character had in the past and the continuous distance the people in her life put between them and her, she is relishing the moment to be free, "She's this new, dark being, and she can do whatever the hell she wants. She's the most free, dark, fun version of herself, and she's loving it."
